Winning Big at The National Honey Show

My first ever National Honey Show - I had read about this event many times but never had time to attend. Many people enter their honey, wax creations, cosmetics, inventions, art and pictures into the categories; of which there are well over 300.

We won Second Place in the Innovation Category and I had a stand as well. My stock hadn't arrived by the time the show came around but no matter, I loved explaining the concept to people and getting your feedback. My fellow stallholders were very supportive and I am sure I will see them at the Beekeeping Show in 2025.

I had been feeling a little fatigued lately - I work in a day job, beekeeping for 11 hives and trying to set up this new business. It had, at times, all felt a little too much of a juggle. In consequence, I had not been to the bees as much, and felt I was neglecting this more relaxing side of life. After the Honey Show, I felt really re-energised and back in love with how wonderful bees really are. I made a decision to re-queen some colonies after meeting some suppliers who showed me that I can have productive bees without the aggression!

Things I am adding to the Christmas list include a sting proof suit from BBWear and an electric spinner from Techtron. Making beekeeping easier and more fun is my mission, and I want that to apply to me as much as anyone!
